How The Step Not taken By Paul DAngelo Follows The Monomyth Archetypal Pattern. By: Thomas Bradbury The Step Not taken by Paul DAngelo follows the Monomyth Archetypal patterns three stages. Stage one occurs when the genius undergoes a insularism from our social norms by contemplating why a man in his rise was crying. In stage two, the internal struggle, he has the foreshorten to help this man and try to help. Stage three, the return to society, is seen when he leaves the rise and shares his story with his geniuss. He also comes to a recognition that in modern day society we have well-educated to disassociate ourselves from others in need. During stage one in the theory, the paladin is presented with a pursuance or journey which requires him/her to leave the conventions of society. This pursuance/journey is often presented by a guide or a magical being. In our story, the protagonist is in an rise with a man who begins to cry as they are voyage in the airlift . This is his guide that presents him with his quest. Our protagonist begins to ponder what the man may be so upset about and questions whether or not he should go against the social norm that would be to erect ignore him or if he should possibly ask him if he needs help. In stage two the protagonist undergoes a struggle or initiation into a new human race that is filed with uncertainty and danger and is presented with a see or rills. The test our protagonist is presented with is whether or not he should try to attach this man. He begins to think about the possibilities that might arise if he were to do so. He enters in to a world of business organisation when he thinks of the man lashing out at him for jimmy what might be wrong. Our protagonist decides to get off the elevator and never ends up talking to the man. The final stage is the friend re-entering society with his new-found knowledge or wisdom.
